Enterprise Zone

The City of Stayton is pleased that its application to the Oregon Business Development Department for the designation of most of the industrially zoned land as an Enterprise Zone has been approved, effective July 1, 2010.

The Enterprise Zone provides a short term (3 to 5 year) exemption from property taxes on improvements to qualified businesses that increase employment in the zone.  Since inception of the Enterprise Zone in 2010, there have been two business expansions approved for tax exemptions, Littau Harvester for an estimated value of $575,000 in improvements with 9 new jobs and Willamette Valley Lumber for an estimated value of improvements of $1,560,000 with 35 new jobs.

  • Generally no concurrent job losses outside/beyond the zone boundary
  • Maintain minimum employment levels during exemption period
