Dear Stayton Family Memorial Pool Patrons,
I know most of you were very excited to hear that pools are in phase 2 of the Oregon reopening plan. The Stayton City Council voted to reopen the Stayton Family Memorial Pool at the last city council meeting. We are scheduled to reopen Monday, July 20, 2020. The staff at the Stayton Family Memorial Pool and the City of Stayton have been working very hard along with other pools from around the United States and other countries to come up with a plan to reopen pools, taking into consideration your health and well-being, along with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Guidelines and social distancing restrictions. With that in mind, the Stayton Family Memorial Pool will be doing a soft opening. This will give us a better understanding of what does and does not work for both you and the staff. Patrons are required to wear a mask at all times in the facility, except while in the water. If you do wish to wear a cloth face covering while in the pool, then you will need to stay in the shallow end of the pool, with your face above the water at all times. We are asking everyone to please be patient with us as we move to reopen our pool for our community.
Here is a link that will allow you to sign up for Lap Swim, Water movement, and our fitness programs thru your membership portal (Membership Portal). If you have any issues please let me know and I will do my best to guide you through it. Per OHA, we are at this time-limited to 1 lap swimmer per lane and due to deck space 20 people per fitness class, so please sign up for only 1 class a day for the time being. You are more than welcome, to ask non-lifeguarding staff if the room is available in the next class. This will be on a first come first serve basis. Using your portal is the best way for you to sign up and ensure that we have room for you to lap swim or to join into classes.
I have attached a video of what to do when you arrive at the pool. This is a quick video letting you see how the facility is set up. Click for Video Tour. All Patrons will need to read and sign the Patron Protocols Waiver before entering the facility for the first time. No one will be admitted without the signed document. At this time, the Stayton Family Memorial Pool and the City of Stayton are working with several Aquatic Organizations, along with Doctors and other health organizations to come up with a safe way to teach swim lessons allowing for social distancing. Once a plan has been decided on, we will be contacting all swim lessons parents/guardians and discussing our plans with them. Again, I ask for patients and understanding. The safety and well-being of the children in our community is one of our highest concerns and figuring out how to safely teach them in close proximity is something we are trying to work on.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me by email. Here is a copy of the soft opening pool schedule (July 20-Aug 21, 2020 Pool Schedule)

Stayton Family Memorial Pool
In an effort to continue the importance of drowning prevention education during the pandemic, the City of Stayton—Stayton Family Memorial Pool is highlighting May’s designation as National Water Safety Month.
Despite facility closures, City staff members are focused on keeping residents safe through online training's and virtual meetings with the American Red Cross and other aquatics safety professionals from around the country to provide critical lifesaving information to the community. Drowning is a preventable tragedy that can happen in as little as two inches of water.
National Water Safety Month will be highlighted through educational information aimed at children, families and the community. Each week I will upload new video's and actives for you and your kids to watch and go over. I have also upload fun at home swim lessons actives. Please let me know if you have any questions.
